Advising
Students are encouraged to seek advising during faculty
office hours or by appointment throughout the semester. The academic
advisor is ready to answer questions concerning course work, plan of study,
career choice, post-graduation employment opportunities, and professional
society memberships.
Each student will be assigned an academic advisor from the faculty of the Department of Engineering. To find out who your advisor is go to my.ipfw.edu. Students who have not been assigned an advisor should request one by contacting the department administrative assistant.
Each semester online registration will be blocked for students until they meet with their academic advisors. Students must bring to the meeting a complete one-year course plan. After discussing the course plan with their advisors, students will be able to register online. It is recommended that students contact their advisor prior to the meeting so he/she can be prepared and ready to help them.
On the occasions where the online system doesn't allow the registration for a course even though the requirements are met, the student should contact the department to have the problem resolved. In some cases, when a registration problem occurs, the student might need to contact the academic advisor.
It is the student’s responsibility to check for co/prerequisite requirements and time conflicts. For accurate information about a course pre- and co-requisites students should check these bingo sheets and NOT the IPFW Bulletin.
